想象不到的土豆饼

吃了这么多年的麦当劳(McDonald’s),都没有特别去注意他食品外包装上的名称,也是近期尝试将早餐从包子油条饼这些改为了麦当劳的早餐,然后就格外注意到了麦当劳的脆薯饼(Hash Browns),这两个单词,也算都认识,但无论是单词,还是这两个词所构成的词组,都让我难以想象到这跟土豆、马铃薯或者薯饼有什么关系。咳,英语学习的初级阶段,可能就是这个样子吧,知其然而不知其所以然。

怀着好奇心,查阅几大在线词典,终于得到了一个清晰的解释。

下一阶段的英语学习计划

这个Learning Englis with Oxford的站点,也已经运行了一年了。整体来说,有收获,但进步不大。

使用博客站点本来是基于网络和键盘积累英语学习过程和资料的很好的途径,但有些很传统的学习方法之前还是忽略了。

之前认为键盘可以完全替代手写,在学习过程中。但现在看来,键盘替代不了手写,虽然现在需要手写的工作或生活场景少了,但手写的过程还是不可或缺的,这种书写的一笔一划,一字一词,实际是强化记忆的过程。之前曾经想过要买一些英文练习册,也曾经无数次觉得买了这么多年的的Apple pencil始终无用武之地,现在终于找到了他们的最佳结合点。省却了真正的纸和笔,却实现了书写学习的目的。

之前也总是认为,手里的商务印书馆的第7版英汉双解词典Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary太过陈旧,总想着要把它丢掉。包括后面也买了LDOCE 6和OALD 10的英文原版。但实事求是的来说,这些年自以为是的英语基础,其实还是太差了,基础词汇不够,虽然也认识到了Oxford 3000和5000,以及他们作为英语学习基础词汇的重要性,但终究还是基础太差,连啃3000词都困难,更别说5000词了。所以再回过头来看,毕竟一本中英对照的词典,才是最适合自己这个阶段学习使用的。因此,旧书新用,参照OALD 10 最新划定的3000词,使用荧光笔对中文释义进行标注,后面再结合单词,音标,英文释义,以及例句进行书写记忆。除此之外,即使日后随手翻阅,也会显得更加醒目和便于阅读。那么此时,我才觉得,买了这么多年,这本大部头才算上真正意义上的开始用上了。

另外,澳大利亚广播电台的英语系列教程,从听短波那个年代开始,到互联网时代无数的下载,打印,甚至学习,都没有真正意义上的坚持下来过。所以对于自学英语的自己,如果想要不是那么枯燥的学习,还是应该有一些实用意义或者主题贯穿在这个过程中。希望这次,借助于以上提到的方法和工具,也能够把这些主题英语课程好好的学习一番吧。
